Academic Probation, Incompletes, and Withdrawals
Academic Probation:
A student who does not achieve satisfactory academic progress at the completion of a subject class, as defined in the Satisfactory Progress Policy, will be placed on academic probation for the next subject class. If the student on probation attains satisfactory grades in the next subject but still does not meet the overall satisfactory progress criteria, they may continue on probation for one additional subject class. Should a student fail to achieve satisfactory progress during the initial probationary period, their enrollment will be terminated. Additionally, a student's enrollment will be terminated if they fail to meet overall satisfactory progress after two consecutive subject classes.
Upon being placed on academic probation, the student will receive counseling from the school prior to returning to class. All details concerning the probation, including the date, actions taken, and terms, will be recorded in the student's permanent file.
Re-enrollment After Termination:
Students whose enrollment was terminated due to unsatisfactory progress may reenroll in a subsequent term within the next 12 calendar months after one six-week term has elapsed. This re-enrollment is subject to the school’s established refund policy. Students reenrolling under these circumstances will be placed on academic probation for the next subject class.
Incomplete Grades ("I"):
An "I" for Incomplete may be assigned if a student is unable to complete all coursework for a subject class due to circumstances beyond their control. The student must complete the coursework by the end of the term, or they may notify the school registrar to arrange one opportunity to finish the coursework in a subsequent term, starting no later than 12 months after the term in which the "I" was assigned. No additional administrative or tuition fees will be charged for completing the coursework, although fees for books, supplies, or tools may apply.
Withdrawals:
Under Texas Education Code §132.061(f), a student obligated for full tuition but withdrawing for valid reasons unrelated to academic performance may request an "I" for incomplete. A "W" for Withdrawal is used to indicate that a student has officially or administratively withdrawn from a subject class. Students with a "W" cannot complete the course and will receive a refund as outlined in the school's refund policy.
